For those of you who are in the dating arena, I have some valuable insight that I would like to share with you, if you care to read-that is. Before you ever say ‘Yes I Do’; be sure to conduct due diligence in trying to understand the kind of person you want to spend your life with. While dating, instead of asking them some silly questions such as ‘what is your favourite colour and your favourite meal and your favourite TV show?’ Dig into their lives by asking them well-considered questions. Here is a sampling of questions you need to get answers for:
Would you share with me your life story as vividly as you possibly can? How closely knit is your family? Has your relationship with your mom and dad been warm- How do you feel towards them? Were you happy in your childhood-growing up? What is your most treasured memory? Any painful memory? Is there anything you would change about how you were raised if you had the power to do so? Do you consider yourself a happy person? What makes you feel happy or sad?
What is it in your life that you feel most grateful for? What is your greatest accomplishment in life this far? Is there something you have dreamt of doing for the rest of your life-what is it? What are you doing about it? What does friendship mean to you? What do you value most in a friendship? What roles do love and affection play in your life? Would you be able to describe the kind of husband/wife you would like to have?
Is your life guided by some kind of principles or values-what are they? Who are your friends (what do they do, where do they live)? Tell me about your spirituality-do you believe in God? Do you relate with Him? Is your life God-centred? Do you have any evidence that God is working in and through your life? Would you like to be famous-for what? What does money mean to you? How do you earn, save and invest it? How many children would you like to have? How would you like to raise them?
