A pumpkin farmer was examining his promising pumpkin crop in the field. As he walked, he noticed a glass jar that had been abandoned in the garden lying next to a small budding pumpkin. The little boy in him got hold of his curiosity and he went down on his knees to examine the empty glass jar. While at it, a thought that urged him to slide the small pumpkin into the glass jar popped up in his mind. And he did. ‘I will be back to check on you during the harvest’ he thought to himself. Totally bemused with himself, he rose up from his knees and walked away.
Three months later, he returned to his field to harvest his crop and was so pleased to see a rich harvest of many large pumpkins in his field as reward to his labor. He was amazed to realize though that the pumpkin he had put inside the glass jar had grown to fill and conform to the size and shape of the jar and ran out of room to grow any further.
Whatever happened to that pumpkin does indeed happen to many people as well. The self-limiting beliefs we hold about our lives can arrest our abilities, our potentialities, our powers and our future. We don’t fail in life because we lack talent, we fail because we do not have faith and belief in the talents and gifting that we possess. If you want to attain your greatness, you have to break out of your own inhibitive thought patterns and closed up mind set.
